November 2022

07/12/2022 - What we are up to...

During November the children have been thinking about Remembrance Day and the significance of the red poppy that we wear. We were very fortunate to receive a visit from some soldiers who are based in Colchester. The children ( and staff) were very interested in what they had to tell us about their job and how many times they had jumped from a plane.

We have also been baking Pudsey Bear biscuits and Pudsey Bear bread rolls for Children in Need. The children came dressed in their spots for a small donation towards the charity.

Our focus this month has been on healthy eating and healthy, cheaper alternatives for our lunch. The parents were invited in to have a cooked school lunch with their child over the course of a week. Each day the children made a different healthy option to share at lunch time too....ham, cheese spread and cucumber wraps, vegetable soup, carbonara, fruit jelly and quiche. The children developed their chopping, peeling, grating and mixing skills and observed the changes made when either cooked or chilled.
