20/04/2023 - What we are up to...

During the second half of the spring term we have celebrated many different occasions and important days. Some of these include World Book Day, Pancake Day, St David's Day, St Patrick's Day, Science Day, Mother's Day and Easter. We have also carried out many activities observing the signs of spring and took some of our children to the local shop to purchase some baking ingredients to make some banana buns.

Here are some photos of the children in their amazing World Book Day costumes together we some of the stories we shared.

We also celebrated Mardi Gras ( Pancake Day), St Patrick's Day and created many different and exciting experiments during Science week.

The children identified the ingredients needed to make pancakes and took turns to mix and stir before tossing the pancakes from the pan.

Creating handprint leprechauns as we celebrated St Patrick's Day.

The children took part in many experiments across the week and explored floating and sinking, magnets, melting ice and observing what happens when adding bicarbonate of soda to a lemon.

Jo and Becky walked a small group of children to the local shop. Using their shopping lists they looked for the items in the shop and then ticked them off their list as they found them.

The children have painted some amazing observational pictures of our spring flowers.

We hosted an afternoon tea for the mummies of our Monday afternoon children. Those that joined us enjoyed cheese straws and sandwiches made by the children together with scones, cream and strawberries and a selection of biscuits.

Our Easter celebrations culminated in a visit from The Rev Faith. The children listened well as she told The Story of Easter to them using her many props.
